Principle:

Child Development

Recognise and praise effort as well as achievement so that all children develop positive attitudes to themselves as learners.

Respecting Each Other

To help children to understand and manage their feelings with support fro the adults around them. To help them understand other peoples feelings and become more caring to others.

Observation, Assessment and Planning

Ensure parents have copies of weekly plans. Observe children to ensure their needs are being met and to find out their interests.

Play and Exploration

To ensure staff plan and resource a challenging environment where children’s play can be supported and extended, To always intervene in play if at any time it becomes negative towards race or gender or unsafe.

Inclusive Practice

Promote equal opportunities to ensure all children and families feel included, safe and valued at all times.

Parents as Partners

To ensure we provide a welcoming atmosphere with appropriate staff where parents can effectively communicate with the people caring for their children.

Supporting Every Child

To provide sensitive knowledgeable adults who know how to engage their interests and offer support when needed.

Active Learning

To remember that for children to learn they need to feel at ease, secure and confident. To ensure children are actively involved in their learning.

Keeping Safe

To provide a wealth of opportunities and experiences for babies and children to meet their interests and needs without compromising their safety at any time.

Supporting Learning

To ensure staff observe and respond appropriately to extend curiosity and learning.

The Learning Environment

To offer a warm, safe environment that is accepting of everyone and where children learn to express their feelings confident that adults will support them.

Creativity and Critical Thinking

To ensure staff show genuine interest, offer encouragement, listen to ideas and ask open questions. To value each child’s cultures and make connections between home and nursery.

Health and Well-Being

Help all children to belong and be part of a group. Recognising the extra requirements of any babies or children with special needs. To help children understand why some food choices are healthier than others.

Key Person

A key person will develop a genuine bond with your children helping them to feel confident and safe. A key person will build a positive relationship with parents.

The Wider Context

To ensure our Nursery is part of the local community and to work together across the services.

To ensure that indoors and outside we try at all times to cover the six areas of learning. To ensure all staff are aware of them.
