Summer Term Newsletter

Welcome to the Summer Term at Deepdene. We have a busy term ahead of us with a wealth of exciting activities planned for the children.

Staff News

We welcome Lucy Winton back from maternity leave and congratulate Lucy Woodward on the birth of her son Lennon.

Uniform

May I just remind Parents that our Summer Uniform is summer sailor dresses for the girls and all the boys must be in navy shorts and pale blue polo shirts. Please do not allow your children to come to school in open toe sandals as children trip too easily in these.

Topics

For the first 2 weeks we will be talking about Spring and Growing - I am sure there will be lots of planting going on!

Following this our next topic will be "People who Help Us". and will include visits from a Nurse, a Dentist, our local Police Liaison Officer and the highlight a visit from our local Fire Brigade: this is always hugely popular: the children are allowed to sit on the Fire Engine and also shoot jets of water across the Playground!

Sports Day and Summer Fair

This year our Annual Sports Day and Summer Fair will be held on Saturday 21st June. All the Nursery and Toddler children will be involved and every one is warmly invited to attend.

There will be a "Pimms and Beer Tent" and Lunches will be available. The event will take place on the Sports Field in Glebe Villas between 10.30am and 2.30pm

Parking

We are really cracking down on bad and selfish parking around the school as we are very worried that an accident will be caused and we have seen a few near misses! PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON ANY OF THE DOUBLE YELLOW LINES AROUND THE SCHOOL - NOT EVEN FOR A FEW MINUTES TO DROP OFF YOUR CHILD.

Ballet

Ballet will start on Tuesday 22nd April. If you would like your child to start dance classes then please speak to your teacher. They may have a trial session before they start to make sure they are going to enjoy it. You will be invited to watch a session at the end of term.

Wine Tasting Evening

The Wine Tasting evening organised by The Deepdene Association was a huge success and proved to be a great fun evening enjoyed by all who attended.

We raisedmoney towards providing another interactive whiteboard for the school and also made a donation towards "Water Aid"

Parent's Meeting

All the children will be moving into new classes in September. You will be invited in before the end of term to meet their new teachers and hear about the next stage of their Nursery education.
