Events and Outings - Summer Term 2010
MAY
WEDNESDAY 5TH
The children in Year 3 class will be visiting Portsmouth Historic Dockyard as part of their History topic, 'The Tudors'. They will be enjoying a workshop on 'life aboard a ship' and also handling, observing and discussing artefacts from the Mary Rose.
MONDAY 10TH
Class photographs will be taken throughout the school.
THURSDAY 13TH
The children in the Reception Class will be visiting Sussex Wildlife Trust as part of their topic 'mini-beasts'. They wll be looking for mini-beasts in many different locations.
FRIDAY 14TH AT 9.00 AM
The children in Year 2 will be performing a concert for their parents, in the school hall.
MONDAY 17TH AT 2.30 PM
The children in Year 3 will be performing sketches, in French, for their parents in the school hall.
FRIDAY 21ST AT 9.00 AM
The children in Year 1 will be performing a concert for their parents, in the school hall.
TUESDAY 25TH AT 9.30 AM
The parents of children in Year 3 are invited to the King Alfred Leisure Centre to watch a Swimming Gala.
WEDNESDAY 26TH
The Reception Class will be visiting the Royal Sussex County Hospital for a tour, including looking at X-ray equipment and inside an ambulance and speaking with a doctor. This is a good introduction to hospitals and will be very helpful if you child ever needs to be admitted. This will take place between 10 am - 12 noon.
HALF-TERM - MONDAY 31ST MAY - FRIDAY 4TH JUNE - Holiday Club will operate Tuesday to Friday - Please remember to book in advance.
JUNE
FRIDAY 11TH
The children in the Year 3 class will be visiting Singleton Open Air Museum to view the Tudor houses. They will also enjoy a 'Tudor Farming' workshop.
MONDAY 14TH AT 11.00 AM
The parents of children in the Year 3 class are invited to watch a gymnastics lesson at the Brighton School of Gymnastics.
WEDNESDAY 16TH
The children in the Reception Class Will be visiting Drusilla's Zoo Park. They will enjoy an educational session as well as the zoo, play-park and a train ride.
WEDNESDAY 23RD
The Year 1 class will be visiting Lewes Castle as part of their History topic. This will also be an inspiriation for making their own castles in D.T. lessons.
SATURDAY 26TH - 10.30 AM - 2.00 PM - DEEPDENE ANNUAL SPORTS DAY AND SUMMER FAYRE will be held on the school playing fields at Glebe Villas. Please ensure that your child attends as all children participate in the races and it is an enjoyable day for the whole family. Details will be sent later.
TUESDAY 29TH AT 10.00 AM
The parents of children in Year 2 are invited to the King Alfred Leisure Centre to watch a Swimming Gala.
WEDNESDAY 30TH
The children in Year 2 will be visiting Sussex Wildlife Trust as part of their topic 'Living things in different environments'. They will be pond-dipping, bird watching and looking for mini-beasts.
JULY
FRIDAY 2ND AT 9.00 AM
The children in Reception Class will be performing a concert for their parents, in the school hall.
TUESDAY 6TH AT 10.00 AM
The parents of children in Year 1 are invited to the King Alfred Leisure Centre to watch a Swimming Gala. This is an opportunity to see what the children have been learning in their lessons.
WEDNESDAY 7TH
Parents are invited to watch their child's last ballet lesson (grandparents and aunties etc. also welcome)
THE LAST DAY OF TERM IS FRIDAY 9TH JULY 2010. If you intend to use holiday club, please let Miss Taylor know at least a week before the end of term.
