May we begin by thanking everyone for such a brilliant first half of Michaelmas term. Deepdene has been such a happy, productive and inspiring environment for both pupils and staff.
The Reception children finished this half term with a ‘Marble Treat’. The children earned 50 marbles as part of their class reward system. They decided to celebrate by having a party. They loved coming to school in party clothes, sharing delicious food and a disco.
Our school councillors spent time this week walking around classrooms to think of ways we can do more recycling. They checked that each class had a place to recycle paper and batteries. They came up with the idea of having bars of soap in the toilets instead of using plastic bottles of soap. They are keen to implement this as soon as possible.
On Thursday there were two fixtures for upper school. The Deepdene football team played through torrential rain to win a game at Lancing College. Our second team showed great determination but unfortunately lost. Another win came from our other fixture that was happening at the same time at Shoreham College. Mr Adams says he is proud of every single one of you and you deserve a rest over half term.
We have been reviewing our healthy snacks policy and we would like to remind you that children will only be allowed fruit, vegetables and/or a savoury sandwich at both morning and afternoon break times. Please support us with this.
We hope that you all enjoyed Open House and were delighted to see all the fabulous learning the children have been engaged in. We know that both the children and teachers love to showcase everything we have been up to during the past 7 weeks.
We hope that you have a fantastic half term with lots of fun and we look forward to welcoming you back on Monday 4th November.
