Dear Parents

Deepdene’s friendly inter-house rivalry was evident this week with the yearly Spelling Bee. Every child demonstrated excellent sportsmanship cheering on not only their fellow house team mates but the other competitors as well. The spellings were challenging but the children did exceptionally well. Herstmonceux claimed victory this year with an impressive 51/60. Well done Herstmonceux.

A brilliant win this week for Deepdene’s girls’ football team! The squad beat Shoreham College 3-0. The boys’ team played a tough match with grit and determination scoring 2 great goals but unfortunately did not win this time. Well done everyone for their super effort!

The boys in Pier and Pavilion classes had a wonderful day of enrichment on Thursday.  While the girls enjoyed a hockey experience day at Roedean, the boys of Pier and Pavilion had an important job to do. Firstly, to design a new flavour of hot chocolate from a range of spices, sweets and fruit flavours. Secondly, to create Mrs Mills’ and Miss Hayward’s perfect, individually tailored flavour. The morning involved customer research, budgeting and shopping for ingredients, using all sorts of measuring utensils and a whole lot of taste testing! The results were delicious!

We want to convey to you all how wonderful Parents Evening was this term and that the new appointment system worked really well. It is always a pleasure to share with you how your children are progressing and developing in every aspect of school life.

Despite it still being November, Christmas preparations are underway. The children in Nursery, Reception, Year One and Two have been practising their parts for the Nativity performance and are extremely excited. We are anticipating that the Upper School Christmas musical evening will be fabulous due to the exuberant singing you can hear around the school each day.

Best Wishes Mrs Gane, Mrs Mills and Ms Hayward
