Well done to the winners of the ‘zipped up’ competition this week. Year 1 and Year 3 enjoyed some chocolate treats and an own clothes day on Tuesday for keeping their rucksacks in the corridors all zipped up. This means that the corridors look much neater and are easier to pass through.
The House captains and deputies have been working hard to prep for and lead their second House meeting this term. Every House now has a strong House song or chant. They also discussed future fundraising ideas for the individual House charities. Lewes will be hosting the first charity event this year with ‘Elf on the 12th Day’ Thursday 12th December. Information regarding this event has been sent via parentmail.
A successful School Council meeting was held on Tuesday and our Heads of Council were able to talk all about the Environmental Review of the school that they have completed. They also went through ways the school is recycling. Heads of Council collect paper from the classrooms on a Friday; batteries are also recycled as are pens now and there are bars of soap in the staffroom toilets to cut down on plastic bottles. A trip is being arranged for next term to the local Recycling Plant. School Council are also asking for plastic bottle tops to be brought into school, more on this to follow.
Despite the continuous rain on Wednesday, Pier and Pavilion classes had a marvellous day’s Art trip to London visiting The National Gallery in Trafalgar Square. They enjoyed a guided tour and talk on ‘The Nativity in Art’. They saw many wonderful paintings and this has inspired them to visit again and understand in depth the topic of Medieval Art that they have been studying in Art and DT this term.
We had the privilege of watching The Bethlehem Star dress rehearsal performed by Year 4 on Thursday. We were so impressed by the professionalism of the pupils. The acting and singing was superb and it was evident that they had worked really hard over the past few weeks. We hope that the parents will be as impressed as we were.
A little reminder…please can your child come to school each day dressed warmly now that the cold weather is on its way. Your child will need to come in their blazer but a blue coat may be worn on top. Sports kit also needs to be warm, so blue jogging bottoms (no shorts) and optional fleece. Also a reminder that school jewellery is small stud earrings and/or a watch.
