We would like to start by thanking you all for a wonderful term; we are embracing our new roles and are very excited for the future. Deepdene is a growing happy school; the children are settled, engaged and making excellent progress in all areas of the curriculum. All of us look forward to coming to school every day.
We are pleased to tell you that this term we have welcomed a new child into Year 5 and we have a further four children, two boys and two girls, joining in January into the Year 1, Year 2 and Year 5 classes. We are sure that your children will make them feel very welcome and that they will soon be embedded into Deepdene.
Our Upper School classes have been out twice this week to sing at various events in the community. We have had wonderful feedback from these and they want the children to return in the future.
Lower School have enjoyed their annual Marky Wild magic show and laughter could be heard throughout the school.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to the DPA for a fantastic Christmas fair this year. This is a wonderful event and took hours of hard work. There were so many activities on offer and so the children were spoilt for choice. We had some amazing entries into the cake competition with the winning cake being made by Mrs Kreel and then won in the raffle by Mr Walters. The tombola stall was very popular and so thank you for all your donations. A big thank you also to those people that gave their time on the day to help. We are sure lots of money was raised.
Well done to Lewes House for such an original fundraiser ‘Elf on the Twelfth’. Both the pupils and staff got into role and it became a day of mischief and good fun. The cake stall was a great success and Lewes House raised £163.15 for their charity Cancer Research.
We would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Have a great holiday.
Mrs Gane, Mrs Mills and Ms Hayward
