We have come to the end of another exciting and busy half term. We began the week with the celebratory Open House. We hope you were as thrilled with your child/ren’s work as they were to share their achievements with you. Year Two went that extra mile demonstrating a fabulous country dancing routine with the parents too.
The school began Safer Internet Day on Tuesday with an excellent assembly led by Ms Rosen. The key messages were the importance of keeping safe online. The children at Deepdene are very aware how to keep themselves safe online and this is an area that is continuously addressed in all areas of our school curriculum. Mrs Perrett was also available throughout the afternoon holding a ‘drop-in’ session for any children wanting to ask specific safeguarding questions.
Lion King rehearsals are in full swing. Please be aware of other emails detailing costumes and dates for them to come into school.
Thank you very much for your amazing support of NSPCC. The children were keen to have their ‘Burpees’ sponsored and we managed collectively raise a whopping total of £821.50 for this excellent and essential charity. This total is going to be matched by our incredibly generous anonymous donor.
Ms Hayward alongside the Head and Deputy Librarians decorated the school library with a flurry of hearts this week. This is part of the school initiate to promote the ’Love of Reading’. The library looks gorgeous and it has impacted on many children wanting to use this space and take home more books. The library team are currently running a comic drawing competition and have extended the deadline to the first day back after half term. Please encourage your child to enter.
We hosted the second round of our enrichment workshops at Deepdene today ‘The Rainbow Fish’ 3-4 year olds and ‘Codebreaking’ 7-9 year olds. We opened our doors to the Brighton and Hove community again and were told by one child “that this was the best day of my life”.
We wish you a fantastic half term whether you are off on holiday or relaxing at home.
Mrs Gane, Mrs Mills and Ms Hayward
