Dear Parents

Firstly we would like to congratulate all of those children that took part in the Springboard Performing Arts Festival. We know that you all worked hard on your performances and we are proud of all of you. We have lots of new photos to put on our achievements board.

Year Three visited Fishbourne Roman Palace on Monday. They took part in a Roman school lesson, a workshop, saw the beautiful mosaics and visited the museum. They all had a fabulous time and know lots more about what happened when the Romans invaded Britain. The children were made into Roman slaves for the day but if they worked really hard were able to buy their freedom!

Our Heads of School Council hosted an assembly on Tuesday to inform the school about their trip to the sorting centre in Hollingdean. They also reminded the children about what we are able to recycle in school and were very pleased to announce that the school has achieved the Bronze Award from the Eco Schools programme. This means that we are one step closer to achieving our Green Flag.

The Nursery and Reception children were very interested to meet Dentist Ali on Tuesday. She spent time showing us how to brush our teeth properly using a mechanical bear whose teeth lit up when they were clean. Dentist Ali also supported the children to sort different snacks; healthy foods and foods that would damage our teeth. We were really good at this game and told her all about the healthy snacks we have at Deepdene.

The DPA are hosting a Pub Quiz Monday 16th March 7pm at The Better Half Pub in aid of ‘Project Playground’ we look forward to seeing you all there.

Best wishes
Mrs Gane, Mrs Mills and Ms Hayward
