Dear Parents

It is with regret that I have heard today that sadly we have to close our School at the end of the day tomorrow until further notice.

Our focus during this difficult period is to ensure that we continue to offer a full and meaningful education for every child attending Deepdene.

It is of paramount importance to have routines in place whilst your child is being home educated and we will do our very best to help you with this. It will not be good for your child’s health and mental well-being to drift through their day without sufficient structure.

Children get irritable and fractious if they are exposed to too much screen time, try and restrict television to the normal times that your child would watch it i.e. before school or during the evening.
Legally children of school age have to be educated even if they are unable to attend school. To ensure this, we have put together a timetable, this includes a full and exciting programme of education and activities to help you plan out your child’s day over the next two weeks. You will hear from your child’s teacher on a daily basis and be able to contact them.

Your child will receive their Educational Pack tomorrow, this will be posted to you if your child is off school.

Even if your child is enjoying an activity, stick to the timetable and change to something else, this is what the children are used to and it will keep them more focused rather than letting them spend a long time on one activity.

This educational programme will run until Friday 3rd April, after this the teachers will be having their Easter Break. Please can I ask you to respect their privacy and not contact them during this time.

If we are unable to re-open the school at the beginning of the Summer Term, you will receive a full and comprehensive educational programme to enable you to continue to home educate your child until such time that we are able to open. Again, your child’s teacher will be in touch every day to ensure that although unable to be in school, your child will still receive a first class education.

Most importantly, I hope you and your loved ones stay safe and healthy during this tumultuous time. Deepdene is a strong and close community, we are all in this together, and we will get through it together.

Many thanks for all of your support and kind words over this last week, it has been much appreciated by us all.

Best wishes

Nicola Gane
