We began the week with the most amazing assembly, the performance by Charlotte Glasson. The children were in awe as she played all four of her instruments. This was a real treat and I hope that some of the children will take up the offer of lessons with her.
There were not one but two ‘Teach on the Beach’ trips this week. Year 4 had a sketching lesson with Mrs Viney with amazing results. It was wonderful to get the children outside sketching what they could see. Then Year 1 ventured down to build stone stacks. They had lots of fun trying to build the highest stack and deciding which stone would be the best to balance on the last. As each child visits the beach they are collecting one stone to paint back at school. Eventually these will line the front path leading into school making a wonderful display that connects us all.
The first School Council meeting was held and the children came with lots of ideas. The Head of School Council, Ava, presented the meeting and told the children all about what to expect from the council this year. There are lots of plans so lots more information will follow.
We enjoyed a delicious hot chocolate with our new joiners to the school this week. They spoke about all the things that they are really enjoying in school and it was lovely to catch up with them.
Everybody looked fantastic in their Halloween costumes and it was a fun end to the first half term. Each class went on a pumpkin trail around the school and received a treat to come home with. £96.80 was raised by Herstmonceux for the event and will go towards their total fundraising for the RNLI. Well done everybody!
We hope that you have a fantastic half-term and we can’t wait to see you when you come back to school. We will of course be making lots of plans for enriching our curriculum next term and look forward to sharing these with you.
