Successful House meetings were held on Monday. There are lots of plans in place for the children to hold their next fundraising events in the Spring term. I could hear some wonderful chants echoing down the corridor.
We are really excited about collecting for the charity CHOMP this year. Starting on Monday we are asking for donations to go towards the 100 Christmas hampers that are being sent out across the city. Please see the Parentmail for the list of things to donate.
Don’t forget next Friday we are dressing up as Christmas characters. On this day the choir will also be singing for the Adelaide Care Home. Our Choir has been meeting twice a week and are sounding fantastic! We also have the names of 20 residents of the care home that would like to receive a Christmas card from us, therefore on Monday lunchtime I have asked the children in Years 4 to 6 to give up their playtime to make Christmas cards.
The results of the House spelling competition are in, with Bodiam gaining 5 points for their House, Arundel 10 points, Herstmonceux 15 points and Lewes 20 points. Well done everyone.
The results of the library competition have also been announced. There were 3 winners in the end with the library team unable to choose between two of the entries in Upper School. Our winners are Maisie in Lower School and Millie and Amyra in Upper School. They were presented their prizes at the Good Work Assembly by the library team. Everyone that entered was also given a small prize and all entries will be available in the library for everyone to read and enjoy.
The School Council meeting was also held this week. Ava told the Council about the new equipment that she had asked Mrs Gane for on their behalf. She also spoke about the work that the Council will need to do in order to gain the Silver Eco School Award. Next term the Council will be creating two ‘bug hotels’ in the front garden. More details to follow. The Council have also been challenged to write to companies to ask them about how they can be more environmentally friendly with the packaging that they use. This work will also go towards the Silver Award.
We wish you a lovely weekend.
Mrs Gane and Ms Hayward
