Dear Parents

Mrs Gane and I started our week with a hot chocolate with two new members of the Deepdene community. We discussed with Harley and Scarlett how well they had settled in and asked what they were enjoying about their new school. Of course playtime was a favourite! It was an opportunity to get to know them a little better and we learnt that they both had cats with the same name, Minnie!

A beautiful real Christmas tree was donated to the school on Monday from Mrs Whittington, one of our Upper Nursery parents. Thank you so much for this. Not only does it look fantastic it smells delightful too.

We had lots of volunteers from Years 4-6 on Monday lunchtime to make Christmas cards for the residents of the Adelaide Care Home. The children gave up their lunchtime play to create the most beautiful cards anyone would be very happy to receive. Well done children.

Today we delivered those cards while we sang into the front windows of the care home. We were dressed as an assortment of Christmas characters so everyone looked very festive. Despite the cold weather all the children smiled through every song and I’m sure that they brought smiles to the faces of all that heard them.

The Arundel charity fundraiser has raised £87.60 today, a fantastic result. The children looked wonderful as they came into school and we are fully in the Christmas spirit. Thank you to everyone that brought in a donation.
Thank you so much for the donations for CHOMP. We will still collect until Thursday next week when we will travel to the CHOMP site and donate all of the things you have brought in. Can we say a special thank you to two of our families who very generously donated enough items for ten family hampers, this was an incredibly kind gesture. We have also received a very generous offer of a cash donation for CHOMP of £1,000 from one of our parents. This will make such a difference to the families that benefit from this. What a wonderful thing to do and what a wonderful time of year this really is.

Children are now preparing for their Christmas performances to be filmed. These will be sent to you to enjoy very soon.

We have a naughty elf in school this week. Each day he moves around the school when we are not here and appears in all sorts of strange places. The children have enjoyed looking out for him.

If you haven’t already, please do purchase a raffle ticket. The hampers are looking incredible. You may also pre-order the calendars, tea towels and Christmas cards and pay by card for these on the gate in the mornings at drop off time.

We wish you a lovely weekend.

Best wishes

Mrs Gane and Ms Hayward
