Inside Out Day was a day filled with time to think, mindfulness and yoga. Thank you to Mrs Watkins for the wonderful stretches. It felt so good to have everyone together even though it was virtually and I know the children really enjoyed the day too. I want to thank the children for their exemplary behaviour. They sat and listened, took part in everything and offered wonderful insights into how they were feeling. Mrs King shared with me that Year 5 read a story in their Philosophy lesson, that inspired an insightful discussion about the importance of being grateful for the simple things in life. They’d clearly taken plenty in from the workshops earlier in the day!
We would like everyone to come together again on the last day of this half term, Friday 12th February, at 9am for a whole school assembly. Mrs Slaymaker will lead us in some singing which is something I know that we have all missed doing together. Your child will need to log into my zoom on that morning. We will send out a reminder nearer the time.
We have reached 101km on our virtual journey. Please do keep emailing Isabella with the distances that the children travel during their exercise time.
Eco Club enjoyed a guest speaker this week who told us all about zero waste. Please keep encouraging the children to join. It’s really informal and they don’t have to complete anything extra if they don’t want to.
We are now busy preparing the next work packs. These packs are for three weeks of work starting after half term. Although we are hopeful that we will be able to open from the 8th March, which is the provisional date the Government has given us. We will keep you informed as soon as we know more. Also, in the next work pack you will find some flower seeds. We hope that the children will enjoy planting these. We have also included a hot chocolate sachet as the children have worked so hard we want them to find time to have a treat in half term.
We are looking at what we can add to the timetable and so details of a second sports session will be with you soon. We know how popular they have been and how much the children enjoy getting up from their seat and getting moving.
There will also be some cooking sessions run by our Head Girl, Isabella. These will be for Upper School. So please look out for those details too.
Our Head Librarian, Anya, and Deputy Librarian, Annabelle, would like all the children to take part in their latest library competition. They would like the children to redesign the front cover of their favourite book. You can use pencils, paint or felt tips to create your design. Once complete please email a photo of the cover to Anya on DB and the winner will be announced during World Book Day week. Good luck and get designing.
