We all very much enjoyed coming together this morning for our whole school assembly. Seeing everyone and managing to sing together (although virtually and on mute) was wonderful and makes us miss you all even more.
We want to say a big thank you to Ms Rosen for a fantastic disco. It was a lot of fun and I had no idea we had such good dancers in our school community.
We have sent you details of an extra sports session starting on the Tuesday after half term. Please remember to add this to your child’s timetable. Eco club has had to move because of this extra session and is now on Mondays at 3.45pm.
If you take a look at our Eco page you will find a brilliant Art Tutorial by the girls in Year 12 at Roedean School, about how to make animals out of recycling. Why not try this over half-term. The Roedean team are also sharing with us some of their sporting challenges which are on our sports page on DB.
Mrs Slaymaker has shared with me some of the wonderful work that has been going on in drama. Year 4 had us spooked and our toes curling with their Haunted House Performances. Year 5 and 6 took us to the Movies and had us thoroughly entertained with their Silent Movies. Year 5 also performed their Lock down raps to rapturous applause! Year 3 got creative with their Graphic Score and fantastic Super Hero Characters, and year 2 went to their restaurants and performed their ‘Rhythm Menus’ in pairs. Year 1 packed their bags and set out in their boats to the Antarctic with Small Boy and Penguin. Year 2 packed their bags and went to space to visit the Hubble Telescope. Inspired by Timothy Pope and his Telescope! Reception took flight and flew by balloon to the land of the dinosaurs, then went in a rocket ship into space to try and make Penguin say or do something, just as Ben does in the book ‘Penguin’. WOW!
We are starting to prepare for World Book Day on Friday 5th March now. We will be asking children to dress as their favourite book character and will start the day with a whole school assembly. We have asked for photos of your children reading, please send to Miss Taylor. We will upload these to our school platform. We also have the library competition running. We will have a fashion show on the day and every class has an author talk to look forward to.
Isabella, in Year 6, tells me that we have reached 231km in our virtual journey. Please keep emailing her your distances. Keep going!
We wish you a lovely Valentines day full of love and a delicious pancake day full of treats and of course a restful half term.
