Dear Parents

We are all very excited to be returning to school on Monday 8th March. The first day will be a well-being day with children off timetable and spending time in their classes with their class teacher readjusting to life back at school. Not only do we have a set of new computers in the computer room, we have also redecorated the Stay and Play room so we have new areas to show the children on their return.

But before that, World Book Day preparations are well under way and we are all looking forward to getting dressed up. We will start the day with a whole school assembly which will give us the opportunity to see each other’s costumes. Then both Upper and Lower school have visiting author sessions which sound really exciting. Please do continue to send in a photo of your child ‘caught reading’. These are added to the World Book Day page, which is a tab off of the Deepdene Community page on DB. They are also being printed out to form a display in school. Some of the children and teachers have also created a video of themselves reading a story. These are being uploaded onto DB on the WBD page and there for the children to enjoy whenever they like. There is still time to enter the library competition. Please encourage your child to redesign the front cover of their favourite book and send a picture to Anya in Year 5 on DB. There will be prizes!

Safwaan and Rayaan have raised an incredible £150 through their Readathon which they used to purchase food and toiletries to support families in need. Well done, we are very proud of you.

Our Virtual Journey has now reached 386.17km and Isabella has decided we should now make the return journey too. So please keep going with this for a while longer.

There were delicious smells wafting through some of the houses of the children in Upper School on Thursday afternoon after Isabella held her first Upper School Cooking Club. We made brownies and wow, they were delicious. We have a savoury recipe to look forward to making next week. If you are in Years 4-6 please come along and join us. The recipe will be sent out later today.

Miss Taylor will be contacting you about after-school clubs today. These will be starting on the 8th March. Then next week she will be contacting you about our next Zoom parents evening so that you can book an appointment with your child’s class teacher. The parents evening will be held on Thursday 18th March.

Have a lovely weekend.

Best Wishes

Mrs Gane and Ms Hayward
