Dear Parents

What a fantastic World Book Day we had. The costumes were brilliant and it was so lovely to be able to see so many of them at our whole school assembly. We had everything from owls to Harry Potter, Princesses to cats and dogs, pirates to Mr Twit! Thank you for making such an effort. What a brilliant way to end our time in lockdown.

We announced the winners of the library competition, so well-done Isabella K, Etty and Luciana. Anya had a difficult choice as there were some fantastic entries. How lucky we were to have two author visits and some really exciting sessions. A big thank you to Mrs Carden and Miss Willbridge for organising a super day.

Well done to those children that entered the Springboard drama competition last weekend. There were lots of fantastic entries and lots of the children gained a place. Some of the children are also now entered into the Junior Championship on 13th March, so good luck!

Year 4 have been busy and spent a lesson planting the flower seeds that they received in their last work pack. Hester has some sprouts already showing! We can’t wait to see the results. In Science Year 4 having also been making string telephones and are now learning about Alexander Graham Bell who invented the first actual telephone and in RE the children are feeling inspired by the bravery of Martin Luther King who made such a difference to racial inequality.

Cooking club this week was another delicious session. Isabella led us through making flatbread, hummus and red pepper and feta dip. She plans to hold a few sessions in the Easter holidays as we have all enjoyed taking part so much. Dates will be posted soon. Thank you, Isabella. You have a career as a tv cooking presenter for sure.

Parents evening parentmails went out this week so please do book an appointment. This will be held on Zoom again.

We are so excited to be welcoming all of the children back on Monday. We really can’t wait to see all their faces at the gate in the morning. We are so proud of all of the children and the way that they have handled this difficult situation. They have shown resilience and bravery. We will make sure that we tell them how proud we are of them.

Have a lovely weekend

Best wishes

Mrs Gane and Ms Hayward
