What a wonderful start to the week. The children were very happy to return to school on Monday and we saw so many happy faces. Thank you to everyone who helped their child bring their work in. Goodness me there was a lot to sort out but it is important that we have a record of the work the children did during lockdown. Some of the work that was produced at home was really amazing and we have tried to display what we can at School. It is lovely to have the building come to life again and hear the learning going on. We know this is another period of readjustment for the children and that they will be tired coming back to full days at school.
Zoom wasn’t completely finished for everyone as Year 4 had a session named ‘What is History’ hosted by the National Archives in Kew on Friday. The session was really informative and we will continue to try and provide sessions like this while museums are still closed. Year 3 also enjoyed an online session from World Wildlife Fund called ‘Saving the polar bears and penguins’. This told them all about the plight of these animals and I know that the children are really aware of the environmental issues that surround this.
Please do book your parents evening appointments ready for next week. The teachers will be able to let you know how your child has settled back into school and let you know what our aims are going forward.
Next week Boco Arts, a live music events company, will be joining Years 4, 5 and 6. They are organising a children’s opera project called ‘Brundibar’. They will be teaching the children some simple chorus material during this workshop. This will be an exciting new experience for the children.
Plans are being made to raise money for Comic Relief which is on Friday 19th March. We are asking children to make £1 donation and dress as a superhero for the day. So capes at the ready, please help support this great charity. We are also making lots of plans for the last day of term which we will let you know about next week.
We wish those children that are competing in the Springboard Championship all the luck and can’t wait to hear how they all got on next week.
Have a lovely weekend.
