We have had a great three weeks back at school and are so proud of the children and how they have coped with the transition. Schools are places of routine and structure- even if those routines have had to change, the predictability of the school day has been hugely reassuring for them. There is no such thing as ‘normal’ when it comes to learning. All learners are individual and teachers have been responding to where the children are, not where anyone says they should be.
Our final total raised on Friday for Comic Relief was £142.60, thank you for all the donations. We had lots of fun dressed up as superheroes. Please note our next dress up day will be Friday 23rd April where we will dress as a pirate for the day to support Arundel House and their charity fundraising.
Two golden tickets were drawn in Good Work assembly this week. If the children have received a postcard home this term their name will be on a ticket in the golden tin. We then draw a name from Upper School and a name from Lower School and those children receive a £5 Amazon voucher. Well done to Billy and Harley.
Our Head Boy and Head Girl went along the road earlier this week to deliver the Easter cards that we had made for the residents of the Adelaide Nursing Home. We do hope that we can take a group along to visit very soon. The residents in turn sent a large basket of treats for the children which were shared out and very gratefully received.
The Easter Bunny came to school today to see the children. The Bunny kindly delivered an Easter egg to each child. The eggs were donated by the Deepdene PTA. Thank you so much, what a lovely treat! A big thank you from all the staff too, as a gift was also provided by the PTA for every member of staff.
All the children came down to the hall this afternoon to take a turn at the Deepdene Disco. All of the teachers joined in to. There was an awful lot of spinning around. What a great end to our term.
Upper School Cooking club has three new dates booked for more cooking in the Easter holidays. Please join us if you are in Upper School. Please log into Ms Hawyard’s Zoom details again.
I have seen beautiful Easter displays in all the classrooms this week. Year 4 even has an entire blossoming cherry branch and have been blowing eggs ready for painting. We wish you a great Easter holiday and hope the sun shines for you.
