Although a very rainy day, Year 3 had a great trip to Battle Abbey on Monday. They learnt more about the Battle of Hastings and were even able to re-enact some of the battle scenes.
The rain did stop Year 2’s Teach on the Beach trip on Monday I’m afraid, but Year 4 were able to spend Tuesday afternoon at Lancing Beach. They enjoyed their lunch there and an afternoon of sketching. As well as creating a very impressive stone circle. Of course there was also ice-cream to be enjoyed.
The sun shone for us on Sports Day and the children had a great time racing up and down the track. It was wonderful to see how the children supported each other. We saw such kindness as they cheered and sometimes comforted one another. We want to thank our fantastic sports team for arranging such a great event. The teachers even entertained the children by running their own egg and spoon race. It was highly competitive and very noisily supported by the children! Thank you to the Deepdene Association for providing ice-lollies for everyone, they were very much needed after all the exertion.
The Bodiam fundraiser today was lots of fun with the children trying to guess the teacher’s pet and lots of yummy cakes to buy. They raised lots of money for their charity, Dogs Trust.
We are all looking forward to our African drumming workshops on Monday as well as a musical concert on Thursday from the children that have individual lessons with Mrs Fitzgerald. Thursday, next week is also our Lagoon water sports session for Years 4-6. During this they are able to try sailing, wake boarding and stand up paddle boarding. So another busy week!
The children will also be invited to meet and spend time with their new teacher next week. This will be an exciting opportunity to get to know one another and become familiar with their new classroom.
Thank you to all those that have bought tea towels this week. We still have lots left so please do come and purchase a few. Miss Taylor has them at her desk.
Have a lovely weekend.
