Thank you to everyone that came along to this week’s Welcome meetings. It is great to have your support in helping your child be prepared for their school day. Our first welcome back coffee morning was also another lovely opportunity to see lots of you and catch up on how your summer was.
I attended our school choir on Tuesday lunchtime and was delighted that we have some new members. Please encourage your child to attend on Tuesday lunchtime. We have lots of fun.
Upper School Gardening Club gets together every Friday lunchtime. The children learn about the different plants and how to look after them. All children from Year 3-6 are welcome.
Another ‘Teach on the Beach’ session was held on Monday where Year 3 took their lunch to the beach and enjoyed some beach challenges set by Miss Knight.
The children in Years 4-6 attended Roedean for their regular Thursday session and enjoyed a drama enrichment session this week. Years 3-6 will attend Roedean for an entire day of enrichment next week. This will take place every half term.
STEM Club has started on a Thursday after school for Years 4-6. Mrs King has been busy planning challenges in the STEM lab to extend their learning and have lots of fun. This week’s challenge was to build the highest tower using marshmallows and dried spaghetti. The children talked about the strongest shapes and came across the challenges of the spaghetti breaking. The task encourages the design mindset and supports basic engineering principles. It was also a lot of fun and very sticky! Please let Miss Taylor know if you would like your child booked onto this after school club.
Thank you for your support for Jeans for Genes day. We raised £118.55 for this worthy cause.
The Deepdene PTA have organised a get together on Friday 24th September at Wish Park, 3.30pm. This is an opportunity for parents to catch up while the children play. We hope lots of you will be able to go along.
Have a lovely weekend.
