Well done to Arundel for holding our first House fundraiser and raising £98.47 from our Halloween dress up. Each House holds two fundraisers across the school year to raise as much as they can for their chosen charity.
Thank you to everyone that came to the Deepdene Association meeting on Wednesday. There are lots of exciting plans ahead. Please do get involved if you can, the more the merrier. Your child should be coming home today with details of the Deepdene Cookbook. We would love to see lots of your recipes.
It was wonderful to have such a full school for our ‘Open House’. I know how much the children enjoy these opportunities to show their parents their work. There was a wonderful atmosphere and it was good to be able to invite all of you into School after so long.
Year 3 enjoyed their Stone Age Day this week. They carved arrow heads, performed a river ceremony and created cave paintings. These events enrich their learning and provide an opportunity to delve deeper into the subject.
Reception class have been looking at the Owl Babies book and real owls visited them on Thursday afternoon. They found out about how the owls live and had the opportunity to hold one. What an exciting afternoon!
We ended our week with a visit from the Dogs Trust. They spoke to the whole school in an assembly and then held workshops for the Lower and then Upper School. The workshops focused on responsible dog ownership and safe behaviour around dogs.
It certainly has been a busy half term with fixtures, trips, ‘Teach on the Beach’ sessions and visitors into our school. Although I can see how tired the children are, they have embraced all of these experiences and gained so much from them. They have enjoyed being part of the school community and I am shown that each morning when I greet them at the school gate.
We wish you a very happy half term.
