Dear Parents

Welcome back! We hope you had a lovely break and the children are ready for the new term.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you very much for your generous presents, cards and kind words that we received at the end of term, it was very much appreciated.

Our Inset days were very productive and there are lots of exciting plans ahead including Space Week. More details to follow very soon. We also have plans to run another day in February, as we did last year, focusing on mental health. Techers have also begun planning for World Book Day too which we know that the children always really enjoy.

The children all came back with smiles on their faces this week. I heard Cosmic Yoga taking place in Lower School and lots of talk about the phases of the moon in Upper School. It is wonderful to hear such enthusiasm learning across the school.

Please do come and say hello to our new teachers , Mrs Gunn in Year 1 and Mrs Clarke in Reception.

Congratulations to Roxanne’s parents who had an exciting Christmas!

Just to let you know that we still have calendars on sale at Miss Taylor’s desk.

Next week, our Head of Reading Miss Knight has asked us to focus on reading. Drop Everything And Read time, better known as DEAR time, is a time regularly set aside in the classroom timetable for both children and their teachers to “drop everything and read”. DEAR is a great way to create fun and excitement around reading for pleasure. It sends a message that reading for pleasure is important, and something everyone should make time for. Both adults and children will DEAR throughout the week. I’m sure that the children will find this fun and be interested in what the adults are reading. This can then lead to exciting discussions about favourite authors.

We should have been holding our get together coffee morning next week after the success of the first one. But unfortunately under current circumstances we decided that we cannot hold this. We hope that we will be able to run another at the start of the next term.

Gardening Club have been busy this week with planting. They are making plans for what they want to see in the flower beds in the Spring and Summer. I think, under Mrs Watkins guidance, the children will be amazed at what they can grow. We look forward to seeing the results.

Have a lovely weekend.

Best wishes
Mrs Gane and Ms Hayward
