Dear Parents

We had a great start to the week with our drumming assembly. Lots of children had the opportunity to have a try on the drum kit. There was lots of interest in the lessons and no need to buy a full kit but a drumming practice pad. Please let us know if this is of interest to your child.

Thank you to all of those who came along to our Open House on Tuesday. The children clearly enjoyed showing you what they had been up to. I heard poems being read, songs being sung and saw lots of happy children proudly showing their work.

Reception class took a trip to the theatre on Thursday to see The Tiger who came to tea. The much loved tale of a tiger creating tea time mayhem was brought vividly to life on stage in a show packed with oodles of magic, sing a long songs and clumsy chaos. They had such a wonderful time and were completely enthralled by the show.

Vashti Hardy paid us a visit on Thursday afternoon. We learnt how she started writing her books, where she got her ideas from and she gave us lots of writing tips. The children did not take their heads out of their newly signed books for the rest of the day. What a great inspiration for more reading! We have lots more author visits coming up.

The children were very excited to celebrate Number Day today. It was great to see the children make such an effort to get dressed up again. We raised just over £150 which is being kindly doubled by one of our families. Thank you so much to everyone that contributed and a special thank you to the parents doubling the amount. That means we can send just over £300 to the NSPCC.

Year 6 are taking part in an ISA Netball Tournament today. The top four schools will qualify for the national tournament. We have our fingers crossed for you Year6!

‘Inside Out Day’ is next Wednesday. This will be a whole day of yoga, mindfulness and sessions focusing on kindness, gratitude and resilience. Some classes are choosing to spend some time at the Secret Garden in St Leonards Church. Years 5 and 6 have an online session with the charity Bullies Out. This session will look at increasing confidence and self-esteem and promoting positive, respectful relationships. The children may take a mindful walk or complete a mindful art project together. During the creative sessions we get the opportunity to share our thoughts feelings and ideas.

Bodiam will be holding a Valentines disco next Friday afternoon. More details to follow in Monday’s Parentmail.

Have a lovely weekend.

Best wishes

Mrs Gane and Ms Hayward
